Planning Your Visit:

Rose Hill Cemetery is more than just a cemetery -- in many respects, it is a nature preserve and outdoor art gallery in addition to being a sacred space for the deceased. Please keep the following in mind when visiting:

  • Do not walk into plots, both out of respect for families and also safety - many have underground crypts that are at risk of collapse.

  • Be mindful of funerals and keep a respectful distance from any visiting family members as there are still active burials ongoing in the cemetery.

  • The cemetery is large! Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water and sunscreen as there is not much shade.

  • Please be respectful of all grave sites, plots, and monuments - they are fragile despite being stone. Attempting to climb on or touch them may result in damage to the monuments or grievous personal harm.

  • When driving through the cemetery, be aware that there are some steep hills and very narrow roads that can give larger vehicles some difficulty.
